Our 3-night stay at Secret Garden Inn & Cottages was very pleasant. There is an "Old World" charm to this place that immediately puts one at ease and in relaxation mode. The big surprise was that we had not verified that breakfast was included. It was, and that was the highlight of our stay, with Dominique preparing a home-made breakfast each morning. Omlette, Claffoutis, Sausages, Croissant, Preserves, Coffee, Tea, etc. So abundant and delicious that we could skip lunch! The rooms have ample space and beds are comfortable. Bathroom had plenty of hot water, linens, towels, etc. I will say that the bathroom could use upgrading, or at least a rejuvenation of grout and caulking. One other thing was that several rooms have hot tubs, which also need upgrading and noise reduction. The location is walking distance from downtown and some restaurants and close enough to get on to the 101 quickly. For a young couple, a small family on a budget, or people seeking a European feel and personal connection to the owner/operator, this place is ideal!
The Secret Garden Inn is a welcoming, beautiful oasis within walking distance of downtown Santa Barbara. The owner and host, Dominique, is welcoming, friendly and full of helpful suggestions. She shared her knowledge of Santa Barbara and provided an extremely helpful list of restaurants and bakeries! I truly enjoyed my breakfast out on the porch amidst the roses and birds. My cottage contained everything I needed for my three-day visit. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Santa Barbara. It's a gem!!
We were very pleased with our one night stay. Our space was cozy and comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was awesome…a really nice feature of our stay. We tried a Japanese restaurant, suggested by our hosts and we were very pleased. We will definitely consider staying with you again in our travels.
Great spot for a staycation...own hot tub is nice too!

We have enjoyed staying at the Secret Garden for a number of years. The rooms and hospitality are excellent. A very quiet and pleasant visit each time!!! We just celebrated our 56th Anniversary as it was great as usual!! We highly recommend staying here!
This was a great place to stay. The accommodations and its proximity to everything we need was great.
I loved being able to sit outside on the patio, watch the trees and the wildlife. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The service was exemplary! The staff was kind, courteous and friendly. I'm definitely coming back sometime in the future.
Beyond the physical beauty and warmth of the cottages, the innkeeper Dominique makes a stay at the Secret Garden a pure joy. She is so very hospitable, attentive and kind. And makes a five star breakfast. Thank you Dominique
I have been staying here when I visit Santa Barbara abiut 4 times a year for * years. I love it
A great place to stay, cute cottages, feels like home, excellent French breakfast. Will definitely stay here next time in Santa Barbara!
My stay at the Secret Garden was just what I needed. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was tasty, I felt safe in the area, and the hospitality was warm and friendly I will definitely stay here again.
The home made breakfast alone makes this the only place I'll ever stay in Santa Barbara. Lovers of vintage charm and a personal touch, this place will make your trip!
We had a lovely time in the Meadowlark room. The room was comfortable and breakfast was very good. Dominique was available and provided helpful information on nearby restaurants.
Nice, quiet private hot tub in patio. Nice breakfast
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and had a really lovely time. We spent two nights in the Oriole Suite. We especially loved the small jacuzzi on the porch and the breakfast delivered each morning. It was delicious! Quiche, croissants, fruit, juice and coffee. The only downside was that some things in the room could use a bit of updating. The bed definitely needs to be replaced, and there were a few minor issues like how the doors closed, furniture was a bit worn and some cracks in the walls etc. Overall, it was a really nice weekend getaway with great hospitality and a cozy, charming atmosphere
This place is magical! Tucked away in an unassuming neighborhood near downtown Santa Barbara, it truly is a secret garden complete with garden paths, flowers and roses, and cottages. We had our own hot tub on our own deck. They deliver an exceptional breakfast (fresh croissant and fritatta) in the morning to your door. Comfortable and cute and clean. Husband surprised me with a cottage here for the weekend. I thought he had booked a standard hotel. I won't let him book a different hotel in SB again!
We really enjoyed our stay. It was very pleasant and you all were wonderful. We definitely will come back.
