Dominique is a caring, attentive host. The girls and I spent two nights in Woodthrush cottage, enjoying a peaceful atmosphere with comfy, clean and warm bedding, a delicious breakfast, nice guests to talk to, and a sweet kitten for the girls to play with (they're six years old). Thank you, Dominique for a slice of heaven in Santa Barbara. We can't wait to come back!
Friendly host. Fabulous French breakfast. Quiet and clean. Off-street parking. Close to Upper State St.
This is a lovely bed and breakfast. We stayed two nights in the Cardinal room and loved the aesthetic. Came with Room service, bottled water coffee and tea in the room, extra blankets and a warm space heater, fast WiFi. Each morning came with an excellent and very filling French breakfast. The garden is beautiful and relaxing and the inn. Definitely would stay here again.
This was our most relaxing trip to date. Dominique felt like a long lost cousin and truly made us feel at home. We stayed in the main house and loved it!
My friend and I were looking for an affordable option in Santa Barbara when visiting for a wedding and Secret Garden Inn was absolutely perfect. It was so cute, clean and well kept. It felt like you were staying in a friend’s home because it was so cozy and Dominique so welcoming. She went above and beyond with our check in and her homemade breakfasts were incredible - everyone at the wedding heard about her croissants. The location was less than a 10 minute ride from the water and also had plenty of things around to walk to. Highly recommend!!!
Had a nice stay at the Secret Garden! We had the Garden Room with a small yard for our Dog Goldie, and Breakfast was awesome also, see you next year!
Unfortunately, I had to arrive late. I called in advance like my instructions told me too. The cottages reminded me of a cottage I use to live in when I lived in Lake Tahoe. The rooms and outdoors pathways reminded me of my mom, who passed away in Feb. The flower bedspread and table clothes to the brick curvy pathways. I was delivered Breakfast to my room. I told them the night before a later time for breakfast. But while having dinner with my siblings, they wanted to be on the road at the time I suggested breakfast. The cook did not have any problems making breakfast an hour earlier for me. It is a really relaxing place. I enjoyed the short time I stayed. I needed the peace of mind. It has been a tough year for me, and I left feeling a lot calmer than I did when I left LAX.
Great staff and awesome breakfast. Hot tub is nice too
such a quaint, romantic, and cozy place. the owner, dominique is as inviting and lovely as the space she has made. the complimentary breakfast was a delicious quiche. i was able to communicate my vegetarian dietary preference and still had a filling meal. the hotel cat, peanut is friendly and naps all over the property. would definitely like to return here one day soon.
We had a good time in this place. Clean. Confortable. Good breakfast. Dominique is really good host, she is very attentive. In my point of view there are little details that need to be attended to be a five : the blinds do not cover well the windows, so you will have a lot of light. There are a lot of things in the rooms, so you do not have much space. There are ants, so you need to be careful with food. And something that was not in her control was that neighbors were repairing things so there are a lot of noise in the mornings. The hotel is pet friendly that it is a plus for us.
Another gem hiding in plain sight.
Wonderful place! Close to downtown Santa Barbara and quiet and peaceful. Daily breakfast was very tasty and the owner was very nice and friendly! Would definitely stay here again!
Absolutely Gorgeous!
It’s a cute place! Our room was in the main building where we also met a cat. We felt a bit weird arriving there in the evening, no real contact at first with the host. Not knowing if we were there by our self’s. They prepare the breakfast in that building as well. We did not know though that breakfast was not included when booking through Airbnb, felt weird to leave our room or to ask if we could get coffee.. but I’m the end it was super nice that we were offered breakfast on our last day. Room was nice and clean. It’s a 30 min walk downtown. Plus for free parking and was easy to find. We wouldn’t come back though.
Nice quiet getaway. We stayed in the main house and enjoyed it. We are cat people so we enjoyed the resident cat. Breakfast was outstanding. Great location, enjoyed the walk into town. We would stay there again.

It was a very unfriendly experience all around. Those in the cottages are not allowed into the main house stating “due to Covid 19 protocol”. Haven’t seen that at any other place I’ve stayed in the past year. I find the whole idea of a bed and breakfast to be one of meeting new people. I was secluded to my own cottage behind a very tall fence. I only saw one other person the entire time I was there. She delivered breakfast to my patio. No words exchanged at all. Upon checking in, the owner was nonchalant and short with all of the instructions. The hot tub was dirty. I did not use. I texted the after hours number (as instructed if before 7AM and because I could NOT go into the main house to talk to anyone) to request breakfast earlier than I had first stated for my second morning. No text back until hours later (post check out). I replied that I am glad I didn’t have an emergency and told them where I had left my keys. Their reply was “I guess if you had an emergency, you would have called!” WOW! I own a customer service based business and I would die if any of my employees responded like that. And I highly doubt you would have answered the phone anyway! I hate writing this review, but I would never stay there again and I DO NOT recommend this place if you are visiting beautiful Santa Barbara. There are WAY better B&B’s than this one (even on the same street!)
